South Jordan – South Jordan Police confirmed Tuesday that the person fatally shot by officers during a shootout on Friday night was a 17-year-old boy, whose identity has not yet been released.
The incident began when officers responded to reports of a vehicle theft. According to police, the suspect inside the stolen vehicle opened fire on the officers. In response, the officers returned fire while the suspect fled on foot.
Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the search for the suspect, who was ultimately found in a nearby backyard. The teenager was taken into custody and transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries…
