At the Roxy: An animated cat, a Kidman thriller and ‘8½’

Opening

‘Flow’

The cinema world was left reeling last week when this indie Latvian animated adventure made on open-source software won the Golden Globe Award for best animated feature, trouncing two different Pixar films in the process. A flood of biblical proportions leaves a cat and its menagerie of animal friends on a quest to find dry land. I’d like to see Moana do that. Rated PG. Directed by Gints Zilbalodis. Opening Friday, Jan. 10.

Continuing

‘Nosferatu’

Why don’t you come to your senses? You’ve been out riding fences for so long now. No, wait a minute, that’s yacht rock, not Count Orlok. Robert Eggers, the weird-beard director responsible for “The Witch,” “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman,” unleashes a terrifying new take on the vampire classic. Rated R. Stars Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp and a cat that is definitely going to need therapy.
