Waterfront Mission’s Arukah Respite Center, Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola partner to help unhoused people

PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — Unhoused people transitioning from hospitals to recovery environments will soon be able to access more support as a nonprofit announced a partnership with a local hospital.

According to a news release, the Waterfront Mission’s Arukah Respite Center and Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola announced a formal partnership on Thursday.

Nonprofit officials said the partnership will help unhoused people to access essential care.

“The Arukah Respite Center is a first-of-its-kind facility in the Gulf Coast offering essential post-hospitalization care for unhoused patients who are medically stable and ready for discharge, but who may need additional support in their recovery,” the news release said. “With a dedicated focus on those experiencing homelessness, Arukah provides a secure and comfortable environment for individuals to heal and regain strength.”…
