Red Cross of Northern Ohio seeking volunteers to deploy to California wildfires

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The American Red Cross put out a call for volunteers Wednesday morning to man emergency shelters for people displaced by the wildfires in southern California.

The Northern Ohio Region is now seeing if any of their volunteers are available, regional communications manager Christy Peters told FOX 8.

”Here in northern Ohio, we are fortunate that we don’t experience many huge natural disasters like wildfires or hurricanes, and so, often our volunteers are willing to go because they realize those people need help,” she said.

Anyone who is available to go away for at least two weeks will be put on a list of available volunteers. Peters said it’s highly likely they’ll be sent to California because of the mass destruction that’s already happened…
