Hartford man who robbed victims using internet marketplaces is sentenced to 13 years

HARTFORD, Conn. — A 26-year-old Hartford man was sentenced in the city on Wednesday to 13 years in prison for committing a series of gunpoint robberies targeting victims selling luxury goods over online marketplaces.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, John “Kirby” Villegas will have his sentence followed by three years of supervised release.

Court documents and statements noted that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Hartford police; and Middletown police investigated multiple gunpoint robberies.
