Barrow County school board approves weapons detection system for high schools, a day after gun brought to Apalachee High campus

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Barrow County Board of Education has approved a weapons detection system for county high schools.

Barrow County Schools officials said board members “unanimously approved the immediate implementation of OpenGate Weapons Detection System in all Barrow County High Schools,” at a board meeting Thursday night – which they scheduled after deputies said a student was arrested for bringing a gun to Apalachee High School on Wednesday.
