LIST: Central Va. schools closed, delayed Friday due to winter weather, water crisis

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A second winter storm will arrive in Central Virginia Friday, while roads still remain icy and residents are still dealing with a water crisis. Some local school districts are choosing to close or delay their openings in the face of these challenges.

The following schools and school divisions will be closed on Friday, Jan. 10:

  • Albemarle County Public Schools
    • Teacher workday; 12-month staff to report at 10 a.m.
  • Amelia County Public Schools
    • 12-month employees, teachers and professional staff to report at 10 a.m.
  • Buckingham County Public Schools
  • Caroline County Public Schools
    • Essential employees, 12-month employees, teachers and licensed staff to report at 10 a.m.
  • Essex County Public Schools
    • Staff to report at 10 a.m.
  • Fluvanna County Public Schools
  • Goochland County Public Schools
  • Hanover County Public Schools
    • 12-month employees to report at their regular time
  • Henrico County Public Schools
  • King William County Public Schools
    • Staff to report at 10 a.m.
  • Louisa County Public Schools
  • Northumberland County Public Schools
    • Employees to report at 10 a.m.
  • Powhatan County Public Schools
    • Staff required to report; details sent via email
  • Richmond City Public Schools
  • Richmond Waldorf School
  • Sabot School in Richmond

The following schools and school divisions will open two hours late on Friday:

  • Chesterfield County Public Schools
    • 12-month employees to report at their regular time
    • Bus drivers should report to buses an hour and 15 minutes late
    • Jacobs Road Elementary staff, families will receive an email
  • Cumberland County Public Schools
  • Richmond County Public Schools
