Dozens of abandoned cars dumped along the railroad tracks in a mostly residential area of East Oakland have been towed away, according to Union Pacific Railroad.
An assortment of pickup trucks, SUVs, cargo vans and sedans — most stripped of valuable parts — was clustered on property owned primarily by Union Pacific near Kerwin Avenue, but has now been cleared , the railroad said. The area came under renewed attention after a video was posted on social media of the blight in December.
