Winter weather advisory for 15 Michigan counties until 1 a.m. EST Saturday – up to 4 inches of snow

On Friday at 2:30 a.m. EST the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 1 p.m. EST until Saturday 1 a.m. EST for Huron, Saginaw, Tuscola, Sanilac, Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe counties.

“Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches,” can be expected according to the weather service. “Peak snowfall rates are expected during the evening rush hour period, roughly between 2pm and 8pm. During this timeframe rates in excess of a quarter inch per hour are possible resulting in accumulations of 1 to 2 inches within a few hours.
