Somerset Welcomes Alibi Sports Lounge with Creative Fare and Local Brews

Somerset has a new hub for sports enthusiasts and food lovers alike with the opening of Alibi Sports Lounge.

Owned by Kaitlyn Burns, a Swansea native, this is her first venture into the business world. The lounge, formerly the Somerset Grid Iron located at 150 Slades Ferry Avenue, had its soft opening on December 19th and is gearing up for a grand opening weekend starting Thursday, January 16th.

A Name with a Story

The name “Alibi” came to Burns during her travels, with inspirations from a Vegas spot known for its people-watching and another Alibi seen in Texas. The final decision was influenced by the TV show “Shameless,” aiming to create a local yet comfortable atmosphere. With three Alibis in hindsight, she took it as a sign and from that day forward, Alibi was born.

A Comfortable and Fun Atmosphere

Burns is committed to making Alibi a welcoming place where customers feel at home. She even retained employees from the former Somerset Grid Iron, ensuring job continuity for those who wanted to stay. Up and coming entertainment plans include acoustic sets, local DJs such as Matty O, musical bingo, and trivia nights to keep the ambiance lively.

A Creative Menu

Head Chef Kourtney Kelton crafts a menu filled with pub fare and BBQ, offering unique flavors, sauces and ever-changing specials. Highlights include chourico and chip sliders, brisket sliders, and shrimp cocktails in mango habanero or Cajun style.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg…
