FORNEY, Texas — The City of Forney Planning and Zoning Commission’s meeting on January 2, 2025, has left many Forney-area residents with questions about what the city can do in its Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) and who has ultimate power of approval through an Interlocal Agreement with Kaufman County, where the development is located.
The meeting was regarding 50.786 acres of land east of Helms Trail and Prairie Lake Lane in the City of Forney’s ETJ where a developer wants to build a hybrid multi-family development. Currently, the land is occupied by one single-family residence but is bordered by acre homesites, newly constructed industrial, and newly constructed single-family residential development.
