Last year, this “big box” retailer known for its famed holiday parades, announced plans to close hundreds of locations all across the country.
We now know which locations in Texas will be shutting down as the company begins its plans to close what it calls “unproductive stores” as it tries to attempt a turnaround to save the company which has been in business for over a century.
According to a press release from Macy’s, the retailer announced the closure of 66 Macy’s store locations. These closures are a part of what the company is calling “the Bold New Chapter strategy”, which was announced in February 2024.
The plan is designed to return the company to sustainable, profitable sales growth which includes closing approximately 150 underproductive stores over a three-year period while investing in its 350 go-forward Macy’s locations through fiscal 2026.
The 66 locations closing this year will be in nearly two dozen states including:
- Arizona
- California
- Colorado
- Florida
- Georgia
- Idaho
- Massachusetts
- Maryland
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Missouri
- New Jersey
- New York
- Ohio
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- Virginia
- Washington
Clearance sales at impacted Macy’s stores will start this month and run for roughly eight to 12 weeks. Macy’s Furniture Galleries will have clearance sales start in February and run into March. Coupons are only accepted through Jan. 12 at these closing locations.
Texas Has 6 Locations That Will Be Closing Down In 2025.
While the exact date for the closures remain unknown, many are expected to close in quarter one of the year. Here’s the Texas locations that are shutting down:
- Houston: Almeda Mall
- Fairview
- Plano: Shops at Willow Bend
- Southlake: Southlake Town Square
- Fort Worth: WestBend
- Flower Mound: Highlands of Flower Mound
While this may seem like bad news for stores in these areas, it might be the catalyst needed to help save the company overall, only time will tell. For now, if you want to save some money on quality merchandise, you should take advantage.
