Alabama Board of Nursing launches new Nursing Support Technician certification to address challenges

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – The Alabama Board of Nursing announced a new Nursing Support Technician certification aimed at easing nurse burnout and creating a better pathway into the nursing profession.

Nursing Support Technicians (NSTs), much like their title suggests, are an important part of Alabama’s healthcare system.

“I think there is a total of 16 different job titles in hospitals and their job descriptions would be a little bit different and they work under delegation from a nurse, so it would sometimes be difficult to understand what this role can and can not do,“ Peggy Benson, the executive officer of the Alabama Board of Nursing, said…
