WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Snow will continue to be steady through the evening but should be tapering off beyond midnight and it will be over with before rush hour Friday morning. Amounts of 2-4″ likely for south central and eastern Kansas remain likely with lighter amounts in southwest and central Kansas. Those areas will see 1-2″.
North winds will ramp up beyond midnight with gusts of 20-25 mph likely, but the snow will be over so blizzard conditions are not likely to occur. Wind chills for Friday morning will be in the single digits and teens with a clearing sky. The afternoon will have highs mainly in the 30s.
The weekend forecast brings a chance for thawing and melting. Highs on Saturday should get into the 30s and 40s (where there is no snow cover). It could be a little chillier on Sunday, but the change isn’t anything drastic. Highs will be in the low to mid 30s over the snowpack, but western Kansas could be near 40 degrees…
