Some local roads remained closed Friday afternoon, and officials are warning conditions aren’t going to improve quickly.
“With the temperature not expected to get above freezing, it’s not likely that much of this is going to melt away and we could see re-freezing after dark (Friday night),” said Dalton Communications Director Bruce Frazier. “Our advice is to stay home. Do not travel unless it is absolutely necessary. Public Works crews are doing everything that they can to take care of the roads, but it’s still possible to have snowy or icy areas on the roadways and they can be hard to see, especially after dark.”
The National Weather Service Friday afternoon said the area had received two to four inches of snow with higher elevations getting more. It predicted the temperature would drop to 29 with an 80% chance of continuing precipitation Friday night.
