Missouri Minute: JCPenney merges in new company creation; H&R Block ordered to pay $7 million

A survey this week from the World Economic Forum shed new light on the threat artificial intelligence could pose to jobs. The organization’s latest Future of Jobs Report showed 41% of surveyed companies planned to reduce their workforce by the end of the decade because of AI. While more administrative jobs may be threatened, employers are looking to fill AI-related positions, the report said. In Kansas City, H&R Block was fined $7 million by federal regulators for deceptive marketing tactics. The tax services company also will have to retool its advertising and customer service practices.
