Katy man accused of assaulting Porter Home Depot employee, stealing high-value equipment

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – A Houston area man was arrested this week, accused of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon at a Porter home improvement store. He is also facing felony theft charges worth half-a-million dollars.

A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputy responded to a report of a vehicle burglary at Home Depot in Porter on Monday, Jan. 6. The deputy reported the suspect stole a piece of underground survey equipment. The business later reported the same suspect attempted to run over an employee while stealing another piece of similar equipment.

During the sheriff’s office investigation, the suspect was identified as Karl Dixon, 41, of Katy.

He reportedly tried stealing a “DigiTrak F2 underground locator,” valued at up to $35,000. It’s most usually used for underground drilling and to install fiber optic cables.

With help from Harris County and Houston area authorities, detectives found and arrested Dixon without incident on Thursday…
