Road Closure and Railroad Track Maintenance starting January 11

On January 10, 2025, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared the following message from Union Pacific Railroad.

Starting Saturday, January 11th, Union Pacific will conduct the first phase of a railroad tie replacement project in Harris and Montgomery counties. The project will replace 600 railroad ties and resurface public roadway crossings with a goal of completing one to two a day. Please see the map and current list of crossings below. The work is anticipated to occur within the hours 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. They are working closely with the coordinating roadway agency, such as the city or county engineering department, on this project. Advanced warning devices will be utilized to alert the public. The removed ties will be staged in piles on our right-of-way and will be picked up in the weeks following the project.
