Seattle honors fallen bus driver in emotional memorial service

SEATTLE — King County Metro employees, riders, union leaders and politicians gathered Friday at Seattle’s WAMU Theater to remember a driver who was killed while in the line of duty last month.

Shawn Yim was fatally stabbed after an altercation with a passenger early in the morning of Dec. 18 in Seattle’s University District. Friday, Metro and the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) held a procession of buses through downtown Seattle, followed by a memorial to pay tribute to Yim and his service to King County.

“We will always remember Shawn for his warmth, kindness and most of all, his smile, which brightened every day and every occasion,” ATU president Greg Woodfill said…
