Former Willamette Leadership Academy staffer sentenced for child sex abuse

EUGENE, Ore. – A former staffer at the Willamette Leadership Academy who had been accused of inappropriately communicating with a minor has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison, court records show.

Back in November 2023, Eugene police arrested Sean Duncan Reid, 24, of Springfield, after an investigation led by the Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit discovered he had exchanged photos and inappropriate sexual messages with a minor. Reid was charged with use of a child in a sexually explicit display and luring a minor, according to court documents. Court records said the victim was a former student of the Willamette Leadership Academy.

Officials with the Willamette Leadership Academy confirmed that Reid was a staff member at the academy at the time of his arrest, and that Reid was barred from the school grounds and from any contact with WLA students. Court records show Reid was released on bail shortly after his arrest, but was jailed again in April 2024 when he allegedly visited Shasta Middle School. Reid claimed he was there to play a softball game with other adults, but his release agreement banned him from going anywhere where children would be present…
