For decades, a cartoonish ghost character wearing a crown has graced the entrance to The Spirit Shop liquor store in uptown Victorville.
The little ghost, which many dubbed “Casper” or “Spooky,” has seen a lot of changes since the liquor store first opened in 1965 on Seventh Street, just north of Green Tree Boulevard.
On the Spirit Shop’s 60th anniversary, Mayor Elizabeth “Liz” Becerra, called the liquor store part of the history of Old Route 66 and Victorville.
