San Diego Man Charged in Vista Road Rage Shooting with Rubber Bullet Gun

A San Diego area man has been placed under arrest following a road rage incident that led to gunfire. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Kyle Macpherson is accused of shooting at another vehicle using a rubber bullet gun at the corner of North Melrose Drive and West Bobier Drive in Vista on December 28, 2024. No one was reported injured during the altercation, but the targeted vehicle suffered damages of over $1,400.

After the incident, detectives assigned to the Vista Sheriff’s Station, as detailed by the Sheriff’s Department, conducted extensive inquiries, culminating in acquiring a search warrant and a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) for Macpherson. Walking out of his home located in the 600 block of Ascot Drive yesterday, the suspect was stopped by detectives around 6:00 a.m., upon which weapons and ammunition were discovered in and seized from the car.

Subsequently, a search of the suspect’s residence uncovered an alarming array of weaponry, including 13 firearms and over a thousand rounds of ammunition. Macpherson, who was taken into custody without further incident, now faces multiple criminal charges. These include assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a billy club, and felony vandalism, as per the Sheriff’s Department report.
