Fire personnel, city officials, and community members gathered on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, to officially welcome a new pumper into service during a special ceremonial truck wash and push-in event at Fire Station 1, located at 203 Central Avenue, the city said in a press release.
The ceremony began with the traditional truck wash, a symbolic ritual that signifies the start of the fire truck’s service with the department. Firefighters, along with local children and residents, took part in this community-oriented event, cleaning the truck and preparing it for its new role.
Following the truck wash, the fire truck was ceremoniously pushed into the fire station, a time-honored tradition that dates to the era when fire trucks were horse-drawn.
