Newport and Wilmington Police are investigating an incident Wednesday night, January 8, 2025, that resulted in a single car crash in the Town of Newport.
Wilmington Police tell WDEL News their officers had terminated a pursuit on Maryland Avenue out of the city, but the suspect vehicle reportedly continued westbound on Route 4 at a high rate of speed onto East Newport Pike into Newport where the driver lost control of the car on a curve and crashed.
The 19-year old driver was trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle for an extended period of time before being taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition…
