Amazon announces major expansion in North Carolina: ‘A great place to do business’

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Amazon is expanding its service in the Charlotte area with the opening of a same-day delivery facility in Kannapolis that it says will improve delivery speed for customers and help boost the local economy.

It’s part of another major Amazon expansion in North Carolina that includes four new last-mile facilities in Jacksonville, Mount Airy, Tarboro and Southern Pines. The company says it has created more than 24,000 full- and part-time jobs and invested $12 billion in North Carolina since 2010.

“North Carolina is a great place to do business and we’re proud to be expanding our operations footprint across the state through collaborative partnerships and our continued commitment to economic growth,” Sam Blatt, Amazon’s economic development manager, said in a press release. “We’re looking forward to better serving local customers, creating job opportunities for the talented workforce in this region and appreciate the support we’ve received from these communities.”…
