Both were nurses at the Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Amsterdam. On December 6, the Sheriff’s Office said the facility contacted them after conducting an audit with the New York State Department of Health on the medication logs.

During the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement found that a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Practical Nurse were allegedly falsifying narcotics medication logs for several patients to keep the medication for themselves.

The Sheriff’s Office said this happened over several months during the nurses’ daily duties. Klim and Cenchitz surrendered themselves to law enforcement on Friday.
