Maryland Man Arrested In Connection To 2024 Fatal Shooting

Wilmington Police have arrested a Maryland man following an extensive investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in January 2024.

On January 22, 2024, officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to reports of a shooting in the 300 block of North Scott Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Makhi Swanson suffering from gunshot wounds. Swanson was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation was led by Detective Brandon Mosley of the Criminal Investigations Division. Detective Mosley identified 20-year-old Naim Hassan-El of Snow Hill, Maryland, as a suspect in the case officials said Friday.
