More snow started falling late Friday morning in Kentucky and southern Indiana, and the National Weather Service in Louisville said road conditions are expected to deteriorate.
As of noon Friday, NWS had marked many counties in Kentucky as part of a winter storm warning.
What do NWS advisory statuses mean?
The NWS map at weather.gov showed nearly all Kentucky counties in the pink category for “winter storm warning” as of noon. Some in the northeast are labeled “winter weather advisory.” Here’s what some of those advisories mean:
- Winter storm warning: Delay all travel if possible. If you must travel, keep emergency supplies in your vehicle.
- Winter weather advisory: Slow down and use caution while traveling.
