27 Kohl’s department stores to close nationwide

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Kohl’s, the nationwide department store, announced on Thursday that the doors to 27 underperforming stores will be closed for good by April.

The closures were made public in an online notice issued by Kohl’s, which also provided details on the closure of the San Bernardino E-commerce Fulfillment Center (EFC) in California. The facility, which has operated for Kohl’s since 2010, will close once the lease expires in May.

The San Bernardino facility is among 15 EFCs and distribution centers in the supply chain network of the company. Thanks to improved efficiencies at newer EFCs and the ability to fulfill customer orders from stores themselves, the company says it is able maintain the ability to fulfill orders without the San Bernardino facility…
