January 10th: Snow this weekend
Some parts of the Northland that received some snowfall today will get a brief break in snowfall expected tonight before the next system arrives Saturday. Another clipper will drop out of Canada and bring light snow to the Northland on Saturday and Sunday. As much as 1-3” of snow is likely for the Northland and locally higher amounts along portions of the North Shore and northwest WI. Southerly winds should lead to the higher terrain of Lake and Cook Counties to see closer to 4-7” of snow. Once the cold upper-level low begins to push east, freezing weather will return by the beginning of the new work week.
Once the cold upper-level low begins to push east, freezing weather will return by the beginning of the new work week. Colder temperatures early next week will see highs in the single digits and wind chills in the -15 to -30F range on Monday and Tuesday mornings. A northwesterly wind will make more lake-effect snow along the south shore will return. Warmer weather returns by the end of next week when many of us climb into the upper 20s and lower 30s.
