GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — With the exception of Jan. 1, every day in the month has seen below-normal high temperatures. The cold air has been paired with snow, a pattern that continues into Sunday.
As a cold front approaches West Michigan, snow showers begin to develop early Sunday morning. This batch of snow is expected to be fairly light, initially dropping around 1 to 3 inches of snow across the area.
Behind the main system, a stiff wind develops out of the west triggering lake-effect snow Monday and Tuesday. Snow totals will ramp up during this time, with an additional 2 to 3 inches expected.
In the heavier snow bands, some grand totals may result in 6 inches or more. This snow will be sticking around. Temperatures plummet behind the cold front with highs in the upper teens to low 20s for the middle of the week.
Drier air and slightly warmer temperatures return for the end of the week…
