Florida Freeze Warning: Temperatures to Plunge to 24°F Overnight Saturday

DeFuniak Springs, FL – A hard freeze warning remains in effect across the Florida Panhandle tonight, with temperatures expected to drop to 24°F. The National Weather Service issued the advisory early Saturday morning, urging residents to prepare for bitterly cold conditions and potential hazards.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the freeze warning applies from 10 p.m. tonight through 9 a.m. Sunday. Counties affected include Holmes, Jackson, and North Walton. A concurrent cold weather advisory predicts wind chill values plunging to 20°F in the same areas.

These conditions pose risks to crops, vegetation, and outdoor plumbing. The NWS advises residents to wrap outdoor pipes, drain sprinklers, and allow faucets to drip slowly to avoid freezing. Pets should be brought indoors, while outdoor animals require dry, warm shelters, food, and unfrozen water.
