Georgia QB Carson Beck Has Found A New Start

After a bitter ending in the playoffs, the Georgia Bulldogs and Carson Beck will part ways before next season.

The Georgia Bulldogs had a tough postseason. Having earned the number two seed and a bye week after defeating the Texas Longhorns in a rematch for the SEC Championship, Georgia was promptly defeated by Notre Dame – who have now paved their way to the National Championship game .

Dealing with an elbow injury to his throwing arm that left him on the sidelines, Carson Beck’s tenure with the University of Georgia came to an unfortunate end. However, it may have been Beck’s performance in the regular season that made him change course and look elsewhere.

Having initially declared for the NFL draft early on, Beck has rescinded this decision to enter the college transfer portal instead. Using his remaining year of eligibility, Beck will travel to the University of Miami to take over the quarterback spot left open by Cam Ward. Ward is expected to be drafted first or second overall, which says a lot about his stellar performance despite the ‘Canes just barely missing the ACC title games after a heartbreaking loss against Syracuse. This is in contrast to Beck, whose high turnover rate this season had likely hurt his draft stock.

This also made him the interception leader in the country for a while, ending just tied for fourth. This included a total of three interceptions thrown in a crucial conference game against Alabama which ended in a 41-34 loss for the Bulldogs.

With that in mind, a change in location might be what’s best for all parties involved. It won’t be a vacation, but perhaps Beck will be able to recompose himself as a competitor without the SEC spotlight on him…
