Tennessee and North Carolina See Up to 1 Inch of Snow Overnight

Chattanooga, TN – A winter storm continues to impact portions of eastern Tennessee and southwestern North Carolina, bringing mixed precipitation and dangerous road conditions. Snowfall of up to one inch and light ice accumulations are expected through early Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. EST. Communities across Sequatchie, Marion, Hamilton, and Polk Counties are experiencing freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Areas near Chattanooga and Cleveland face hazardous travel as slick roads and icy bridges develop overnight.

Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel. The NWS advises drivers who must travel to exercise extreme caution and pack emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water. Bridges and overpasses are particularly vulnerable to freezing, increasing the risk of accidents.
