Reaction to Massachusetts governor ordering background checks in emergency shelters

FALL RIVER, MASS. (WJAR) — Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey announcing a crackdown on criminal background checks of people living in emergency shelter facilities.

It comes in the wake of two high profile incidents, involving shelter residents, in the past year alone.

“I have no tolerance for criminal activity that puts either residents in those sites or the public at large at risk,” said Governor Healey. “Absolutely no tolerance for that.”…
