“Beautiful souls” | Nepali community raises money for 2 men who drowned in Chantilly pond

CHANTILLY, Va. — Community members have raised thousands of dollars Saturday night for the funeral expenses for two men who were killed after their car was submerged in a Fairfax County pond.

Nischal Bhatta, 20, and Karna Kadka, 55, were apparently inside the car that crashed into the Chantilly, Virginia pond on Thursday morning, according to a GoFundMe created by members of the Nepali-American community in Northern Virginia.

Bhatta, a 20-year-old, had been living in the United States for six months on a student visa. He had left his his native Nepal, a South Asian country nestled in the heart of the Himalaya mountain range, to study in Northern Virginia…
