Winter weather leaves eastern North Carolina with ice, not snow

Eastern North Carolina residents woke up to icy conditions Saturday morning after a winter storm swept through the state, leaving many areas with sleet and puddles instead of snow.

Jay Campbell, a Washington resident, said, “It was the warmest morning we’ve had in a long time, so it was a pretty good day. A little bit more sleet, but no snow. This was about what I was thinking.”
