Major Roadwork on Business U.S. 322: Prepare for Delays and Big Safety Upgrades Ahead!

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has confirmed the continuation of construction aimed at improving safety along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township, Chester County.

From Monday, January 13, through Friday, January 17, lane closures with flagging are scheduled between Barnard Street and Sharpless Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Motorists should prepare for delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time while navigating the area. All work is weather dependent.

The project focuses on a range of safety enhancements, including the installation of modern traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, new retroreflective backplates for existing signals, LED lighting, and pedestrian countdown timers. Additional improvements encompass curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, upgraded drainage systems, and full-depth pavement restoration.
