Parking tickets for Publix spaces isn’t the best solution | Editorial

A plan to solve a parking problem at the only Publix store in Palm Beach calls, unfortunately, for a mixed review.

For residents and visitors who use the Publix grocery store at 135 Bradley Place, finding a parking spot in the store’s lot has increasingly become a problem. As the sole supermarket on the island, Publix is a key destination, a place where people not only fill their shopping carts but also catch up on the latest news in conversations with neighbors they meet in the aisles.

Publix’s parking problem was, no doubt, exacerbated by Town Hall’s decision to eliminate free spaces on streets nearby. Gone, too, is the free valet service that the store offered its patrons for years — a victim of the early days of the coronavirus pandemic…
