Notre Dame has suffered yet another major injury along the offensive line, with head coach Marcus Freeman announcing that left tackle Anthonie Knapp will miss the national championship game against Ohio State. Knapp injured his ankle in the first half of the Orange Bowl win over Penn State and he won’t be able to recover in time for the championship game.
Knapp is the fourth offensive lineman to miss time due to an injury. An injury is how Knapp was able to get the opportunity to start. That was when projected starting left tackle Charles Jagusah was injured in the firs week of fall camp. Knapp then stepped up and won the starting position. Starting guard Billy Schrauth and starting center Ashton Craig both went down against Purdue. Schrauth missed four games before returning but Craig’s season was ended with that injury.
Knapp and right guard Rocco Spindler both went down with injuries in the first half against Penn State. Freeman said that Spindler was in position to potentially play depending on how the week goes…
