A magnitude 3.5 earthquake shook the East Bay on Sunday around 8:49 a.m. It was centered near Pleasant Hill, according to preliminary data reported by the U.S. Geological Survey, and originated at a depth of nearly 9 miles.
Shaking was felt in Oakland, where some reports likened it to a short rattle. A few items fell off shelves in a Martinez home and broke.
