Ohio Man Arrested After Dramatic Escape Attempt by Driving Off Tow Truck on Indiana Interstate

An Ohio man’s desperate attempt to escape the law resulted in a series of dangerous actions including trying to drive his car off a tow truck. The incident occurred on Friday on Interstate 65 southbound near mile marker 206, close to the exits for Rensselaer and Remington, according to a press release from Indiana State Police obtained by FOX59.

The scene began with a single-vehicle crash involving a 2008 Toyota Camry. When troopers arrived and confronted the driver, they discovered he had provided a false identity. Further investigation by the state police uncovered that the driver was Carlos D. Sept, 52, of Dayton, who was wanted for a probation violation tied to past crimes in Ohio, as documented by WTHR.

State police stated that when they tried to detain him, Sept resisted arrest and ran across the interstate’s active lanes, inducing several accidents. After evading officers by running into a nearby ditch and eluding the search underway by a K-9 unit named Cooper, Sept made his bold attempt to flee by getting into his partially-towed vehicle and trying to drive it off a tow truck.
