In the early hours of Monday, New York State Police responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on the southbound side of NYS Thruway (Interstate 87) near exit 12 in the town of Clarkstown.
According to preliminary reports, a 2022 Tesla was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver attempted to change lanes to exit the thruway. The vehicle struck the end of a guide rail, overturned multiple times, and ultimately collided with a utility pole.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Justin Drinks of New City, NY, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Emergency responders extricated him from the wreck, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene…
