Jersey City Council to vote on measure urging appointing Best as new rec director

The Jersey City Council is set to vote on a non-binding resolution urging the appointment of Thomas Best as the new director of the city’s recreation and youth department.

“This resolution urges the mayor to appoint Thomas Best as the Director of Recreation for Jersey City, recognizing his extensive experience, dedication to community development, and proven leadership in recreation programs,” the description of the local legislation says.

“It acknowledges the vacancy created by appointing the previous director, Lucinda Jordan McLaughlin, to the Superior Court and also highlights Thomas Best’s qualifications, including his longstanding commitment to enriching the lives of Jersey City residents through innovative and impactful recreational initiatives.”

Best, who currently works for the rec department as a systems analyst, is also a part-time special events administrator at St. Peter’s University…
