A Moon Township pizza place was ordered to close after health inspectors found an active sewage backup in the restaurant’s basement.
Allegheny County health inspectors shut down Cardello Pizza on Monday. A report states that during the inspection, 13 violations were found — including an emergency violation for waste water disposal.
The report states that inspectors found an active sewage backup in the basement. Wastewater was backing up at three separate basement floor drains, which inspectors say is evidence of a 100% blockage. Some of the backup is near a clean dish drying rack, in front of a freezer, by the backdoor and in the vicinity of a shelf full of dry goods.
