CANARSIE — POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING the death of Canarsie resident Esther Sealy, age 87, who was struck and killed by a minivan Friday evening near East 88th Street and Avenue L, reports the New York Daily News. Police said Sealy, who lived two blocks away, was in a crosswalk around 6:46 p.m. when a 2010 Honda Odyssey driver made a left turn onto East 88th and hit her. The driver, 39, also crashed into a parked Toyota Camry after striking Sealy. She was transported to Brookdale Hospital with severe trauma, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The driver remained at the scene, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
