The Yadkin Arts Council and Blue Ridge Music Center will close out its 9th annual Sounds of the Mountains concert series on Jan. 25 with Colby T. Helms & The Virginia Creepers. The Wilder Flower will open the show that evening.
Colby T. Helms is an up and coming roots & Americana guitarist and songwriter from Virginia. Colby first dreamed of making music his life at age 12. To make his dream a reality, he taught himself guitar, banjo, and mandolin by watching local performers and YouTube videos. By age 18, Helms wrote the songs that would become his upcoming semi-autobiographical concept album, ‘Tales of Misfortune’. The album delves into the beginning of his story – starting off as a dream and ending with the passing and remembrance of his father. With starkly honest songwriting and a sharp angular twang to his vocals, Colby Helms strikes a dynamic balance between country storytelling, blue grass energy, and blues power.
The Wilder Flower blends folk, Americana, bluegrass, and old-time influence into something new and fluid. Their unique sound is centered around original songs and tunes that are thoughtfully arranged and adapted to showcase their tasteful instrumental sensibilities…
