For the past year, Jackie Scharenberg has captured the essence of St. Louis, camera and tripod in hand, bringing the streets to life through her photography. A proud native of the city, Scharenberg is committed to showcasing her perspective on St. Louis, one shot at a time.
“I like finding beauty in everyday things,” Scharenberg says. “Since I live in St. Louis, it’s often the backdrop of my photography. When I think about themes in my photography, I’m often looking for a light in the dark. To me, St. Louis encapsulates that feeling – a little bit of grittiness, a little bit of hope.”
After picking up the hobby 12 years ago and taking photography classes in college, Scharenberg found her much-loved hobby falling by the wayside. Busy with her career and day-to-day routine, Scharenberg found she hadn’t been reaching for her camera as frequently as she would like.
