It took the Lady Huskies three quarters to warm up in a 54-30 loss to Rye on Friday. Florence trailed 13-5 after one, 30-14 at the half, and 48-19 heading to the fourth. The Lady Huskies would finally post double figures in a frame, outscoring the Lady T-Bolts 11-6.
The loss was the third straight for the Lady Huskies, with the last two being in Tri-Peaks league play. They will hit the road on Thursday for a league clash at James Irwin, and league play continues on Saturday with a trip to CSCS.
Huskies get win in strong effort against Rye
After putting up a fight two days earlier in a 10-point loss to Buena Vista, Florence put out the same effort on Friday against Rye, getting a different result. A fast start carried through the full four quarters, giving the Huskies a 54-44 victory.
FHS jumped out to a 17-8 first quarter lead, but saw the Thunderbolts get to within six at the half at 27-21. The guests got one point closer by the end of the third, but it was still a 38-33 Husky lead with eight minutes to play.
