KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The first bill introduced in the 2025 Tennessee legislative session reintroduces a program that failed to support last year and drew the ire of educators and parents across the state — universal school vouchers.
The proposal effectively allows for public funds to be used to pay for private education costs, devoting millions for scholarships to be given to families who want their children to attend private school. SOCM, a group of advocates opposed to the proposal, held several meetings across Tennessee Tuesday to organize communities against the proposal.
